The South Brevard Branch NAACP ACTSO program had its local competition virtually. Our students accepted the challenge to show their talents and we are very proud of them.
On May 28, 2020, thirteen of our high school students demonstrated their talents in music, arts, dramatics, and more. Because of the coronavirus, the competition was held via ZOOM and this experience was new to us . We were so excited for our students’ and they made us proud. Miss Tabitha Hadley led this event. Great job!
On August 23, 2020, Tyliyah Bursey and Jimmy Reed, our local winners, competed in the ACT-SO National Competition. There were over 350 students from across the United States who participated. Both of our students did very well and we are so proud of their efforts and performances. We are looking forward to their continued development. They are talented, and they ACT-SO!

Our Students Can… Do It! The South Brevard NAACP ACT-SO has been in operation for over 18 years. Our students have shown that they can do anything if they are given the opportunity. We are asking Brevard schools to partner with ACT-SO to highlight their students’ talents. Contact Mrs. Bryan for more information.
Our community organizations that have students with talents, please partner with us. We want to encourage our youth whenever possible. They are our future leaders for tomorrow.

Door-to-door canvassing

The NAACP, along with our 1 million plus members,. advocates, and activists throughout the United States, are frontline advocates committed to raising awareness for political, educational, social and economic equality for communities of color in the electoral and legislative process.

Door to door canvassing is one of the most effective tatics for voter contact, and the backbone of Democratic campaigns’ field organizing strategy. We will be using the NGPO Van’s mobile canvassing app and here are the top five reasons: 1. Instant data entry- time is money when you are racing to hit your win number, and etering data from the first pass through a region can cost valuable hours, leaving volunteers waiting for updated second-pass turf. With MiniVan’s instant data sync, campain staff can quickly see canvass results and make real time decisions about where to send voluteers.

2. No more turf packets-for a MiniVAN canvass, simply cut turf in VAN as usual and provide the list number to volunteers who will sign in to MiniVAVV with their unique Action IDs, making it easy to track who is working on each turf.

3. Happy volunteers – one of the easiest ways to keep your volunteers happy is to streamline the process that thwy will go through on a canvass day.

4. Save the trees – The procdess of organizing a political campaign can be daunting, and with so many moving pieces to coordinate, it can be easy to loose sigh of things live enviromental impact.MiniVAN removes the need for constant paper consumption.

5. See Your Progress at a Glance – Using tools like MiniVAN Manager, campaign staff can monitor the vital stats of every canvasser, including location, progress and effectiveness in real time.

South Brevard NAACP and PVT Canvassing Will Start Soon. More Info To Come

We will be focusing on Returned Citizens and getting them registered. If you know someone that needs assistance please contact the South Brevard Branch at 321-728-4622. Please contact James Minus at 321-591-7107 with any voting questions, we will also be canvasing the different precints and need you to sign up to volunteer.

We need more volunteers to help Get Out The Vote (GOTV) for the important General Election. In addition to providing information about all the candidates and FL constitutional amendments, we will continue to encourage registered Democratic and progressive NPA voters to request Mail-In-ballots. This will allow them to receive their ballot early, mark their ballot in the comfort of their own home, avoid harassment at the polls on election day, and track their ballot to confirm their votes have been counted.

Please check in at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church. 2729 Lipscomb Street, Melbourne, FL 32901. We will be in the John W. Taylor Family Life Center (next to the church) prior to each shift to distribute walk packets. Our host is James Minus. October 20 we will meet at Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church, 2295 Dr. Harvey Riley St. NE, Palm Bay, FL 32905. On October 27th we will be back at Macedonia Baptist Church.
